Calcium bromide is the name for compounds with the chemical formula CaBr2 the hydrated form is mainly uses in some drilling fluids. It is produced by the reaction of calcium oxide, calcium carbonate with hydrobromic acid or the reaction of calcium metal with elemental bromine also produced by the reaction of calcium oxide, calcium carbonate with hydrobromic acid or the reaction of calcium metal with elemental bromine. This compound is ordinarily found as a hydrated salt with two atoms of water and can likewise be found as a Hexahydrate Salt.

Calcium Bromide is non-damaging to the formation, thermally & chemically stable also it blends with other solutions containing bromides and chlorides.
